GRAND RAPIDS – Grand Rapids West Catholic showed just why it’s No. 1 in the state in the Division 5 rankings.

The Falcons (5-0) racked up more than 400 yards of total offense and defeated Spring Lake 32-7 on Friday night.

The Falcons led 13-0 after one quarter and 19-7 at the half. The Lakers’ only score of the game came in the second quarter when quarterback Reid Grimmer scored from 1 yard out. Jessica Stewart added the extra point.

It was all GR West Catholic in the second half as the Falcons scored two more touchdowns.

Grimmer finished 5-for-9 passing for 69 yards and two interceptions. Jackson Lemmen caught four of those passes for 62 yards. Sam Schafer was the leading rusher with nine carries for 36 yards.

On defense, George Duggins had 10 tackles for Spring Lake, which came into the game listed as honorable mention in Division 4.

Spring Lake hosts Allendale next Friday in another OK-Blue matchup.
