KENT CITY – For the second time this season, the Kent City Eagles’ volleyball team marked a milestone accomplishment for one of its players.

On Tuesday, Maddie Geers reached the 1,000 digs plateau in her career. Several weeks ago, Kaden Perkins accomplished the same feat.

“It’s pretty rare to have two players in a season accomplish this,” Eagle coach Vandy Krueger said. “Kaden is a junior and this is her third year on varsity. Maddie also is a three-year varsity player.”

On Tuesday night, Kent City swept Chippewa Hills in three sets, 25-8, 25-10, 25-19.

Geers finished the evening with 19 kills, two aces and one block. Perkins had 12 digs and five kills. Irelyn Sullivan had two aces and Cailynn Hartzell had 34 assists. Maddy Mitchell had seven kills.

Kent City is 20-8-1 overall, 7-1 in league play.
