MANISTEE – Ludington had six runners place in the top 11 spots, helping the Orioles’ girls capture first place in the third West Michigan Conference Lakes Division Jamboree, held at Manistee High School.

The Orioles had 27 points overall, followed by Manistee 70, Whitehall 82, Fremont 90, Montague 121 and Oakridge 123.

Summer Brower took home first-place honors, finishing the course in 20:17.05. Freshman Annabelle Lowman was fourth (21:27.39); Christina Theis placed sixth (21:49.84); Autumn Brower took seventh (22:34.90); Mackenzie Keillor was ninth (23:16.05); and Olivia Andersen was 11th (23:37.37) for Ludington.

Fremont’s Linnea Paige took runner-up to Brower with a time of 20:51.74, while Manistee’s Cecilia Postma finished her home course in 21:08.35.

In the boys’ race, Fremont’s Sean Pettis beat out Whitehall’s Stewart Waters by less than 2 seconds, helping the Packers to a first-place finish in the team standings. Pettis raced to a time of 17:28.57, while Waters clocked in at 17:30.44. Fremont’s Carter Sherman was third at 17:31.07.

Fremont scored 47 as a team, followed by Ludington 59, Whitehall 79, Montague 96, Manistee 96 and Oakridge 138.
