PORTAGE – Seth Norder led the Grand Haven Buccaneers to a second-place finish at the highly competitive Portage Cross Country Invitational on Saturday.

Brighton captured the boys’ team title with 83 points, followed by Grand Haven with 128. Mona Shores finished 36th with 1,084 points.

Norder, the individual champion, completed the race in 14:57.3. He was followed by teammates Ben Eisnor in 22nd place (16:00.1), Luke Hammond in 24th (16:01.9), Roman Smith in 25th (16:05.3) and Carson Berko in 69th place (16:38.9).

Mona Shores’ finishers included William Parsekian in 166th place (17:32.3), Hayden Fox in 218th (18:12.1), Eli Lewis in 239th (19:09.8), Cole Hansen in 240th (19:11.4) and Collin Khatir in 241st (19:12.8).

In the girls’ meet, Grand Haven finished seventh among the 32 teams with 217 points. Mona Shores was 31st with 819 points.

Grand Haven was paced by Valerie Beeck in ninth place (18;35.9). She was followed by Addy Smith in 35th (19:20.8), Cianah Budnik-Ramos in 36th (19:21.3), Abi Albright in 62nd (19:46.6) and Payton Hosley in 81st (20:14.4).

Mona Shores’ top finisher was Ellery Horness, who finished 122nd in 20:49.9. Other Sailor runners included Ella Grimm in 165th place (21:50.0), Diamond Madison in 170th (21:52.4), Logan Clausen in 182nd (22:19.0) and Adrie (AJ) Schalk in 199th (22:50.6).
