MUSKEGON – There was good news and bad news that came out of Lincoln Golf Club on Sunday afternoon in the Division 2 regional girls golf tournament.

The good news is Reeths-Puffer senior Paige Anderson was the medalist in the event with a 2-over-par 74.  She will be playing in the state finals for the third straight year.

The bad news is Reeths-Puffer finished fourth, one stroke out of third place. The top three teams move on to the state finals.

The tournament was rained out on Friday and was rescheduled for Sunday.

“I am very happy for Paige,” Rocket coach Matt Pallett said. “She has had an unbelievable season. Regional day is not an easy day for players. There is a lot of pressure at regionals. If you have one bad day and your team does not make it then your season is done.”

Grand Rapids Forest Hills Central finished atop the leaderboard at 353, followed by Forest Hills Eastern at 355 and Lowell with 369.
Reeths-Puffer had 370. Mona Shores finished seventh at 388.

“The team had an incredible year,” Pallett said. “To think how far we have come since last year is hard to put in words. We are extremely proud of this group of young ladies.”

Mona Shores was led by Mayson Southland, who finished 15th with a 93. Summer Darrow was 21st with a 95, Lainee Carmean was 32nd at 99, Raelyn Tyler came in 35th with a 101 and Maddie Etterman shot a 103 and finished 39th.

Anderson will be playing in the two-day state final meet Friday and Saturday at Forest Aker East on the campus of Michigan State University. Lauren Davis from Coopersville finished second among individuals with a 78.
