Kent City loses first set, takes next three in volleyball victory over Grant

NEWAYGO – The Kent City volleyball team defeated Grant in the Division 2 semifinal round on Wednesday. 

The Eagles bounced back after dropping the first set to win, 22-25, 25-18, 25-17 and 25-20.

Maddie Geers had 20 digs, 19 kills, one ace and a block. Kaden Perkins added 25 digs, eight kills and two aces, while Cailynn Hartzell had 41 assists and an ace.

Maddy Mitchell added seven kills. Laynee Hoffman and Irelyn Sullivan each scored two aces.

Kent City (29-12-2) will fight for the district title against Grand Rapids West Catholic on Thursday.
