MUSKEGON – The Mona Shores Sailors opened their hockey season on Wednesday night with a narrow 3-2 victory over the Grand Haven Buccaneers.

The game was played at Lakeshore Sports Centre.

Zach Leibrandt opened the scoring for the Sailors with a goal at 4:49 of the opening period. Quinn Addicott and Zack Keessen drew the assists.

The score increased to 2-0 at 2:04 of the second period on a Brady Tilden goal that was assisted by Addicott.

Grand Haven got on the board four minutes later when Avery Anderson scored his first of two goals on the night. CJ Henke and Caleb Wolffis were credited with assists.

Later in the period, the Sailors regained a two-goal margin on a red lighter by Nathan Tilden. Brady Tilden was credited with the assist.

Grand Haven pulled to within a goal at 11:57 of the final period on Anderson’s second of the night. Carter Wells drew the assist.

Sailor goaltender Braeden Hyrns had 23 saves in the victory. Dean Mattson was in goal for the Bucs.
