LAKEVIEW – The Hesperia boys basketball team was handed a heartbreaking 42-38 overtime loss against Lakeview on Tuesday.

The Panthers led with Lakeview the first three quarters before the hosts finally caught up and tied it up after regulation, 36-36.

Foul trouble caused the Panthers to lose their starting guards, Bryce Billings and Nicholas Guarnieri. Along with a dismal night at the free-throw line, it was enough for Lakeview to find the upper hand and earn the victory.

The Panthers were outscored 6-2 in overtime.

Guarnieri scored 15 points before exiting. Ethan O’Neil posted a double-double of 13 rebounds and 10 points.

Hesperia (1-3, 0-1) will be at North Muskegon on Thursday for WMC-Rivers play.
