FLINT – The Muskegon Community College Jayhawk men’s basketball team battled nationally ranked Mott Community College right down to the wire on Saturday.

In the end, Mott CC (10-1) walked off the court with a 64-62 victory over the Jayhawks (4-7).

The Jayhawks lost leading scorer Jadakiss Lewis in the opening minute of the game with a leg injury. However, the Jayhawks battled and trailed 30-22 at the half.

The teams went back and forth in the second half with the score being tied six times, including at 45-all.

Muskegon CC outscored Mott 40-34 in the second half and fell two points short.

Ben Clark scored with 6 seconds remaining for MCC, but Mott pushed the ball up the court and scored on a layup at the buzzer.

Clark led the Jayhawks with 16 points and seven rebounds. Kaden George had 14 points and Tate Stine had nine points, six assists and four rebounds.

The Jayhawks will take a break until January when they travel to St. Clair Community College.
