HOLTON – Hart’s boys basketball team traveled to Holton on Friday and defeated the Red Devils handedly in a 76-28 affair.

The Pirates controlled the game from the start, bursting out to a 42-15 lead by halftime.

Holton was able to break Hart’s full court press defense with poise near the start of the game, but a third foul on senior guard Carter Brant in the second quarter caused havoc. Hart took advantage and never looked back.

Hart senior Blake Weirich had a strong game with 24 points in limited action. Ty Schlukebir neared double-double territory with 10 points while also tallying eight rebounds and three steals. Junior Brendan Hiddema collected four steals to lead the defense.

The Pirates (5-7, 5-2 WMC Rivers) maintained their grip on second place in the conference standings with the win. Hart will host Muskegon Catholic on Monday for a make-up game.

Holton (1-14, 0-7 WMC Rivers) continued its losing skid, dropping a 10th straight contest. The Red Devils will be back in action Tuesday, Jan. 30 for a meeting with Lakeview on the road.
