MUSKEGON – The Montague girls basketball team shook off a slow first quarter to come back and beat Oakridge, 43-35, in WMC-Lakes play on Monday night.

The Wildcats did have to contend with Oakridge’s Anna Lundquist, who had a triple-double of 17 points, 19 rebounds and 10 blocks.

The Eagles led 11-6 after the first quarter, but the Wildcats kicked it into gear as they outscored Oakridge 7-5 to cut the deficit to 16-13 going into halftime.

The Wildcats came out and built on the momentum with a 30-19 scoring advantage to claim the win.

“We had a slow start, but we made some adjustments at halftime and were able to capitalize in the second half and come out with a win,” said Montague coach Jess DeBruin.

The Wildcats’ Adilynn Peterson and Addison Pranger led with 12 points and Braylyn Bultema added 10 points.

Also, Cambria Guenhardt put up 10 points and grabbed four rebounds for the Eagles.

Montague (3-9, 2-4) will see more league action as it travels to Ludington on Thursday.

Oakridge (2-9, 1-6) will jump right back on the court Tuesday when they visit the Tigers of Shelby.
