HOLLAND – The Spring Lake boys basketball team managed to claw back from a double-digit deficit, but fell short in an OK-Blue showdown against Holland Christian on Wednesday.

The Lakers were edged, 62-57.

The Maroons took off on the Lakers early with eight 3-pointers in the first half and built a 36-26 lead.  The Lakers came out of the break and pulled to within six points, 45-38.

The bttled continued and the Lakers managed to cut the deficit to just three points. Holland Christian made 13-of-16 free throws in the fourth quarter to secure the victory.

Zach Schlepp had 28 points, five rebounds and three steals. Colin Burt scored 11 points, while Jaden Core chipped in nine points, five rebounds, four steals and three assists.

Spring Lake (6-6, 2-3) will be at Hudsonville Unity Christian on Friday for a conference contest.
