MUSKEGON – Grand Haven is sending its boys and girls bowling teams to the state finals after Thursday’s bowling regional tournament.

The Grand Haven boys finished second to Jenison and the Buc girls finished second to Rockford.

The top two teams in each regional qualified for the finals, which will be next Friday and Saturday at Thunderbowl Lanes in Allen Park. Thursday’s event was at Sherman Bowling Center.

On Friday, the bowlers will be competing in the singles portion of the event.

The format included eight baker games and two team games to make up the team total.

Jenison won the boys tournament with a total pinfall of 3,493. Grand Haven was second at 3,366.

Grand Haven’s high baker game was a 221. Their team games were 872, 964.

Mona Shores finished fourth with a high baker game of 199 and team games of 938, 915 for a total of 3,272.

Reeths-Puffer’s boys finished ninth. The Rockets’ high baker game was 188 and their team scores were 792, 813. The team total was 2,869.

In the girls’ tournament, Rockford finished with a 2,990. Grand Haven was second with a high baker game of 189 and team games of 837, 804. The team total was 2,901.

Reeths-Puffer finished fourth with a total of 2,701. The Rockets’ high baker game was 167 and their team games were 726, 860.

Mona Shores’ girls were sixth with a total of 2,487. The high baker game was 159 and the team games were 739, 686.
