GRAND RAPIDS – Despite a double-double from Ashley Folkema on Friday night, the Western Michigan Christian Warrior girls lost a 56-38 decision to Grand Rapids Covenant Christian.

Folkema finished with 20 points, 16 rebounds and three assists.

The Warriors trailed 25-22 at halftime against Covenant Christian.

“We played great defense tonight and excelled at rebounding tonight,” said WMC coach Sarah Koetsier. “I am proud of how hard we played and our hustle down the court.”

Maria Eenigenburg scored five points and grabbed six rebounds, while Hannah Heiss added five points and five rebounds.

WMC (7-4, 3-0) visits Oakridge on Wednesday.
