ROCKFORD – The Mona Shores girls’ basketball team advanced in Division 1 districts on Monday after defeating Greenville 39-36 at Rockford High School.

The Sailors were paced by Khaleeya Cook with 14 points, while Logan Clausen scored seven and Katie Phillips had six.

The contest was tied at 11-all at the end of the first quarter before the Sailors went on a 13-7 second-quarter run to take a 24-18 lead.

Greenville responded with a 10-4 third-quarter run to tie the game at 28.

Mona Shores closed the contest with an 11-8 run to seal the win and advance.

The Sailors, who improved their record to 14-9, will face Cedar Springs at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the district semifinals.
