ALLENDALE – The Fruitport boys basketball team had a tough first half in their OK-Blue game against Allendale on Thursday evening.

The Trojans fell behind 27-8 after the first half, and despite making up some ground, went on to fall, 56-46.

“There were too many mistakes, especially in the second quarter that put us in too deep a hole,” said Fruitport coach Steve Erny. “However, we fought back in the second half and showed toughness and resolve.”

The Trojans outscored Allendale 38-29 over the last two quarters.

DayDay Williams led Fruitport with 20 points and Grade Anspach scored nine. Ryan Bosch and Kyle Burke each chipped in six points.

Fruitport (4-16, 0-12) will host Grand Rapids West Catholic on Tuesday in league play. The Trojans have lost 14 games in a row.
