Montague grapplers win one match on points, one on team disqualification

WHITEHALL – The Montague wrestling team finished 2-0 in an unusual way on Wednesday.

The Wildcats took down Fremont (43-33), but took down Whitehall, who led 47-0, who sent out a wrestler with no listed weight causing a disqualification. Montague was awarded a 1-0 victory. An illegal wrestler being checked in causes a team disqualification.

Kaiden Jeffery, Jimmy Thommen, Savannah Winkleblack, Emma Pendell and Ava Pelton were 1-0. Also, Jeffery and Winkleblack earned clutch pins that helped seal the win against the Packers.

Montague will be back at Whitehall on Friday for the conference tournament.
