The Montague boys’ basketball team played most of the game shorthanded and still managed to earn a slim 59-58 win over Orchard View on Friday night.

Isaiah Atchison left the game after the opening quarter while the Wildcats held a commanding 21-9 lead.

The Cardinals made a comeback, outscoring Montague 15-13 during the second quarter and 21-14 during the third to cut their deficit to 48-45 heading into the fourth.

Montague led by four points with 8 seconds remaining before the Cardinals nailed a three-point basket in the final seconds of play.

Paul Olson and Owen Raeth paced the Wildcats with 13 points apiece, while Kellen Francis added 10. Both Jakob Heiss and Cole Herremans scored seven.

Montague is now 10-6 on the season and 4-4 in WMC Lakes division play.
