NEWAYGO – The Newaygo boys’ basketball team closed out the CSAA tournament with an 82-40 rout over Central Montcalm on Wednesday evening.

“I was really happy with our ball movement tonight and our team defense,” said Newaygo coach Jason Long. “This was a great way for our seniors to go out for their last home game.”

Ten out of the 11 Lions put up points, and four players posted double-digits.

Blake Kerr led the way with 15 points and Jarryn Schmitt scored 13 points. Josiah Long and Jordan Holm each chipped in 11 points. Also, Ethan Reyburn had nine points.

Newaygo (14-8 overall, 8-4 CSAA) will face Howard City Tri County at Fremont to open district action on Monday.
