HESPERIA – Ryann Robins used a double-double performance to help the Holton girls’ basketball team cruise past Hesperia to a 57-21 WMC-Rivers victory on Thursday night.

“It took us a quarter to get going,” said Holton coach Robert Jordan. “We had some good looks in the first quarter that just didn’t drop, but we had a strong second quarter of 18-2 to put some distance between us going into the half and continued to grow the lead.”

Robins scored 17 points and pulled down 13 rebounds. Abbie Fowler followed with 17 points, five assists and four steals, while Layla Cannady added 10 points, eight assists and three steals.

“It’s always good to win against your rival and keep our traveling “Battle of M-120”  trophy at home with us,” said Jordan said, whose team’s 11 victories matches last year’s total with eight games remaining.

Holton (11-3, 4-3) will travel to Newaygo on Tuesday.

Hesperia (3-11, 0-8) visits Fruitport Calvary Christian on Friday.
