MUSKEGON — Ludington boys basketball team jumped out to a big lead in the first half and powered to an 80-54 win over Orchard View in the West Michigan Conference Lakes Division game Wednesday night.

It was a makeup game canceled earlier this season and was played in Muskegon.

Ludington opened up a huge 44-22 lead at the half and never looked back. It was 60-30 after three.

David Shillinger had another big game for the Orioles with 29 points. Taj Williams contributed 12 and Cameron Gunsell added 11. Daniel Ramirez and Ben Gronstal each chipped in seven.

Delaney Oakes led the Cardinals with 11 points and Brian Sewell tossed in nine.

The Orioles improved their record to 13-5 overall, 8-1 in the conference. Ludington travels to Whitehall for a huge matchup with the undefeated Vikings, who are 9-0 in the conference, on Friday night.

Orchard View slipped to 4-14 on the season, 1-8 in the conference with its fourth straight loss. The Cardinals host Oakridge on Friday in another conference game.
