The Spring Lake boys’ basketball team couldn’t find a way to come back against O-K Blue Conference champion Hudsonville Unity Chistian Friday night.

On Senior Night, the Lakers fell, 59-50.

The Lakers trailed 16-11 at the end of the first quarter, 29-23 at halftime and 51-34 through three quarters of play.

All six Spring Lake seniors each scored at least a point in the contest.

“So appreciative of the leadership and commitment these guys have provided not only throughout their careers, but especially this season,” said Spring Lake coach Bill Core. “Though tonight was their last home game, we are not done yet. Every team in the state is 0-0 and we look forward to trying to extend our season a few weeks longer.”

Ayden Ayers led the Lakers with 10 points.

Seniors Liam Zandstra, Wren Dephouse, Colin Bert, Karson George, Zach Schlepp and Eli Morrison each scored in their last game at Spring Lake.

The Lakers, who finished the regular season with a 10-12 record, 5-9 in league play, open district play on Monday at Orchard View against Montague.
