Spring Lake hangs tough with highly ranked GR West Catholic before falling by eight

The Spring Lake girls’ basketball squad gave the second ranked team in Division 2 Grand Rapids West Catholic a scare before falling 45-37 on Tuesday night.

The Lakers trailed 15-8 at the end of the opening quarter, 28-18 at halftime and 31-26 through three quarters.

Spring Lake trailed 33-31 with just four minutes of play before getting outscored 12-6 during the final few minutes of play.

Ella Andree paced the Lakers with 17 points while Ellie Wrona added eight points and Alexa Carter scored seven.

Spring Lake is now 12-6 on the season and 7-5 in O-K Blue action.
