COCOA BEACH, Fla. – It was a very busy day for the Muskegon Community College Jayhawks in women’s softball.

On Wednesday, the Jayhawks played three games and won the opener, but lost the final two games.

In the first game, in eight innings, the Jayhawks defeated Rochester Community College, 7-6.

Hannah Aldred went the distance on the mound for the Jayhawks. She allowed six runs and seven hits. She walked one and struck out 10.

The leading hitters for MCC were Willo Staal and Aldred with three hits each. Brooklyn Galdeen had two hits and knocked in a pair of runs. Illeana Hatcher had two hits, one a triple, scored twice, knocked in two runs and plated the winning run in the eighth inning with a single.

Muskegon Community College faced Hocking College (Ohio) in the second game and dropped a 6-2 decision.

Lilli Goodrich allowed six runs (two earned) in seven innings of work. She allowed eight hits.

Staal had three hits, including a triple, and scored twice. Galdeen had a triple and knocked in one run.

In the final game of the day, MCC was blanked 5-0 by Bryant and Stratton.

Galdeen allowed five runs (four earned) in six innings of work. She allowed 12 hits.

Galdeen and Staal each had one hit.

The Jayhawks are now 2-3 on the season. The Springcoast Spring Games continue on Thursday with a pair of games and concludes on Friday with another tripleheader. In all, the Jayhawks will play 10 games on their trip.
