MONTAGUE – The Mona Shores girls basketball team overcame a first-half deficit to take down Montague 41-29 on Thursday night.

The Sailors were down 23-16 by halftime but managed to outscore the Wildcats 25-6 in the second half and captured the victory.

Katie Phillips led the Sailors with 13 points and Laynie Russell put up 10 points. Khaleeya Cook chipped in seven points.

The Wildcats Adilynn Peterson scored eight points and Braylyn Bultema added seven.

Mona Shores (13-9, 8-6) will take on Greenville in the Division 1 district opener in a game at Rockford.

Montague (8-14, 5-7) will be at Fruitport on Wednesday to open district play against the Orchard View-Fruitport winner.
