The Kent City softball team settled for a split in its doubleheader Thursday against Sparta.

The Eagles lost the opener 14-7, before winning the second contest 14-4.

Lylah Larson suffered the loss in game one, allowing six earned runs on 15 hits.

The Eagles were led offensively by Larson and Jade Mortensen with two hits each. Cailynn Hartzell knocked in two runs, while Armstrong scored twice.

Hartzell earned the win in the nightcap, allowing four runs on nine hits in five innings and striking out four batters.

The Eagles were paced by Laynee Hoffman and Hannah Stellini with three hits and three runs scored.
