MUSKEGON – The Muskegon Lumberjacks couldn’t keep their hot streak going on Friday night in a 5-3 loss to Team USA.

Taking a five-game winning streaking into the matchup with Team USA, the Lumberjacks fell short with a rough third period.

Muskegon managed a 2-2 tie after the second period despite falling behind 2-0. 

Joe Connor scored both second-period goals for Muskegon after the Lumberjacks fell behind 2-0. 

The comeback was short lived as Team USA scored three straight goals within the first five minutes of the third period. 

Matvei Gridin managed Muskegon final goal in the loss. 

Cody Croal tallied three assists on the nigh for Muskegon. 

Team USA outshot Muskegon 38-36 as Lumberjacks goalie Shikhabutdin Gadzhiev posted 33 saves. 

Muskegon returns to the ice on Saturday night for a rematch on the road against Team USA. 

The Lumberjacks have three games left in the season, all on the road.
