MUSKEGON – A potent offense is what Orchard View baesball used to top Shelby at Marsh Field on Friday evening.
The Cardinals topped the Tigers 7-3 and 16-12.
In the opener, OV’s Curtis Scott gave up two hits and a run but struck out 10 batters while Emilio Villareal allowed two hits, two runs and struck out three.
The Cardinals’ Noah Smith had three hits and two runs, and Chase Bundt added two hits, one run and an RBI. Zach Peterson had two hits and a run and Villareal threw in one hit, one run and two RBI. Korson Bowen and Scott each had one hit and scored runs.
In the nightcap, Keaton Tenbrink brought the calm OV needed on the pitchers mound. Tenbrink gave up just one run for the win.
Smith gave up one hit, three runs and struck out four, while Peterson allowed three hits, eight runs and struck out three batters for OV.
Stephon Oakes led the Cardinals at the plate with three hits, four runs and an RBI. Scott posted three hits, three runs and three RBI and Villareal had two hits, four runs and an RBI. Bowen had one hit, one run and an RBI.
Smith and Bundt had a hit and one run apiece. Thomas Klein and Jaxon Tuttle each had a hit and an RBI.
Orchard View is set to host Covenant Christian on Tuesday.
Shelby will be at home on Tuesday to face Holton.
