HOLTON – The Hart baseball team, led by the no-hit pitching of Blake Weirich, split a doubleheader with Holton on Monday.

Hart won the opener 11-1 and the Red Devils came back to win the second game, 4-1.

The Pirates opened hot off strong pitching to take down the Red Devils, 11-1, in game one. A couple errors cost the Pirates a shutout.

Weirich’s no hitter included 14 strikeouts.

For Hart, Ty Schlukebir had two hits, two runs and an RBI, while Carter Ramseyer added two hits, one run and two RBI. Tyler VanderZanden had one hit, three runs, two walks and an RBI. Clayton Riley chipped in one hit, two runs and a walk. Weirich had two hits, one run and one RBI, while Noah Smith had one hit and three RBI. JJ Bizon and Kevon Gray each scored a single run.

The Red Devils came back and topped the Pirates, 4-1, in the nightcap. The Pirates were hitless over seven innings.

Hart will complete their series at Holton on Tuesday for another doubleheader.
