The Muskegon Catholic Central girls basketball team notched a big Lakes 8 Conference win on Friday as it downed the Orchard View Cardinals, 57-26.

The Crusaders jumped out front early with a 14-6 scoring advantage going into the second quarter and still held an eight point lead into halftime with a score of 23-15.

Coming out of the break, the Crusaders lost no momentum and outscored OV 34-11 in the second half.

Leading for the MCC was Erin LaVigne with 15 points while McKenna Gentry and Carrie Ladd each added 10 points apiece.

Having a good night for the Cardinals despite the loss was Liz Estelle with 15 points and eight rebounds while Grace Gardener chipped in seven points.

Muskegon Catholic rises to 2-2 on the season and 2-0 in the Lakes 8. The Crusaders will host Fruitport Calvary Christian after the new year on Tuesday January 4th.

Orchard View continues to struggle and falls to 1-5 overall and will travel to Ludington on Friday January 7th.
