The Montague boys basketball squad opened the season with a close 56-51 win over Fruitport on Tuesday in non-league action.
The Wildcats trailed 12-5 after the first quarter, led 19-18 at halftime and had a 39-37 advantage heading into the fourth quarter before closing the game on a 17-14 run.
Hunter Mosher paced Montague with 17 points, while Peyton Burton added 10 and Kenyan Johnston had nine.
The Trojans were led by Gavin Fischer and Luke Mitchell with 20 points apiece.
