The Ludington softball team swept a doubleheader with Shelby Thursday night behind a big day from Lilli Goodrich. The Orioles won by scores of 17-4 and 13-8.

Goodrich earned the win in the circle in both games, tossing a complete game both times. In Game 1, she allowed four hits and four walks while striking out 11 in five innings. In the nightcap, Goodrich allowed five hits, four walks and four hit batters and struck out 11.

Ludington was led by Brynn Fortner with three hits and two RBIs and Brynn Cole with two hits and three RBI in the opener. Kasey Wallace had two hits and three RBI and Goodrich had a double.

In Game 2, Goodrich stared at the plate as well with a single, a triple, two home runs and six runs batted in. Recebba Szoboszlay was 3-for-4 with a double in the second game. 

Ludington improves to 7-15 overall with the win.

HART 17, 21, MANISTEE CATHOLIC CENTRAL 2, 0 — The Pirates slugged their way to a doubleheader sweep Thursday, totaling 38 runs against Manistee Catholic Central.

In the opener, Cassidy Copenhaver picked up the win allowing just one hit. Abby Hicks had three hits to lead the offense while Copenhaver and Sabrina Pickard had two hits each.

Gabby Quijas also pitched a one-hitter to get the win the second game. Myryssa Hopkins hit for the cycle, with the home run being a grand slam, and recorded seven RBIs. Pickard also hit a grand slam in the nightcap, one of her two hits in the second game.
