GAYLORD — Fremont had eight wrestlers push on from the MHSAA Division 2 individual district at Oscoda on Saturday, including 119-pound champion Tee Ward.

Ward received a first-round bye, and then recorded a technical fall in the second round after building a 17-2 lead in just 1:12. He then went against Jeremiah Brown of Flint Kearsley and won by a 12-4 decision.

Other qualifiers for the Packers included Killian Prewitt (third at 103), RJ Thome (fourth at 125), Daniel Romero (fourth at 130), Trey Meyers (third at 145), Alex Gleason (fourth at 145)

His junior teammate, Jett Nickleson, received a bye into the second round but lost by a fall in 43 seconds to Hunter Nichols of North Branch.

Senior 285-pounder Nikolai Kehrer received a first-round bye, and pinned Adam Goodwin of Petoskey in 32 seconds in the second round before losing by a fall in 4:37 to Dominik DiGenova of Flint Kearsley.

He had two more matches, winning one by pin and losing the other by a fall to to improve his season to 39-7. Kehrer has now won 100 career matches.
