RAVENNA — Shelby seemed intent on stealing a road victory against West Michigan Conference rival Ravenna on Friday.

The host Bulldogs had other ideas.

The Bulldogs turned in an inspired fourth-quarter comeback to shock the Tigers, 51-47. With the victory, Ravenna snaps a 2-game losing streak and improves to 11-6 overall and 9-4 in league play. Shelby falls to 11-7 overall and 8-6 in the WMC.

Shelby had a comfortable 42-31 lead entering the final quarter, but the Bulldogs dominated the final eight minutes, outscoring the Tigers, 20-5.

Ravenna got it done by converting off of Shelby’s miscues, scoring 20 of its points off of the Tigers’ 14 turnovers.

Grant Becklin had a big night for the Bulldogs, totaling 21 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals. Kyle Beebe added 13 points and dished off nine assists.

Joseph Hayes, the leading scorer in the West Michigan Conference, had 22 points and 10 rebounds for Shelby. Bishop Lee contributed 11 points and five rebounds.
