RAVENNA – Ravenna and Kent City co-hosted the Kubasiak Softball Tournament held each year in honor of Peter and Erika Kubasiak who were a pair of Ravenna students that lost their lives in an automobile accident in 2016.
In the first game, Ravenna defeated Grant, 10-1 as Riley Homoly scattered five hits and struck out 10 batters to pick up the win in the circle.
Leading hitters for the Bulldogs were Emma Gillard who was 3-for-3 with a triple, Emma Herremans was 3-for-4, Addison Gillard was 2-for-2 with a triple, Emily Postema was 2-for-4 with a double, Kendra Denhof was 1-for-2 and Ellie Solem was 1-for-3.
Ravenna defeated Cedar Springs 4-1 in the championship game with Addison Gillard in the circle. She gave up just three hits and struck out seven.
Herremans and Homoly each had doubles to lead the Bulldogs at the plate. Emma Gillard, Ameilia Porter and Solem each had base hits.
