MUSKEGON — Lowell captured the title in Friday’s Rocket Golf Invitational at Lincoln Golf Club by one stroke over Mona Shores.

Lowell edged out runner-up Mona Shores, 316-317. The remaining team scores include Rockford (321), Grandville (330), Mona Shores No. 2 (337), Reeths-Puffer (341), Greenville (346), Fremont (350), Whitehall (351), Kenowa Hills (365).

Lowell’s Drew Veldman was the tournament medalist with a 73. Mona Shores senior Nico Taylor was second with a 74. Reeths-Puffer finished sixth at 341. Fremont was eighth (350) and Whitehall was ninth (351).

“Overall the team did great,” Rocket coach Matt Pallett said. “I am happy with how we performed today. We continue to improve.

“Kristian continues to impress me,” he said. “He has a strong mental game to go with his golf game. He overcame a tough hole to place in the top 10.

“Tanner Bonjernoor had a great day,” Pallett said. “He is a senior who has been pressing a little bit. He continues to work hard. He has been playing a lot better the last few times out. I am glad to see him be rewarded for his hard work.”

The Rockets will compete in the Sailor Invitational on Monday at Muskegon Country Club.
