MUSKEGON — Mona Shores won two of three games on Saturday in the Greater Muskegon Athletic Association baseball tournament.

The Sailors defeated Muskegon Catholic, 8-3, and Fruitport, 5-1, to reach the title game against North Muskegon.  In the final game, North Muskegon posted a 12-2 victory over Mona Shores at Marsh Field.

In the opener, Hayden Smith went the distance for the win. Smith allowed nine hits, no earned runs and struck out two. The Sailor offense pounded out 11 hits. Javanni Johnson had two hits, an RBI and three runs scored. Isaac Habetler had two hits and two RBI. Zach Keessen had two hits and scored two runs.

In the victory over Fruitport, Brady Recknagel went the distance on the mound for the Sailors. He allowed one run on four hits while striking out seven. Keessen led Shores with two hits, one RBI and two runs scored. 

In the title game, Recknagel had a hit, a walk and scored a run.  North Muskegon gained the upper hand early with seven runs in the top of the first inning.
 
Mona Shores (17-4) resumes conference play against Zeeland East on Tuesday.
