HOLLAND – North Muskegon’s Luke Hall capped a solid tennis season over the weekend at the Division 4 state finals.

Hall, a junior, was seeded seventh in the No. 1 singles portion of the event. He received a bye into the second round, where he defeated Bryce Talaga of Essesville Garber, 6-1, 6-1.

In the quarterfinals, Hall was matched up against No.2-seed Kabir Rejandra from Ann Arbor  Greenhills. Rejandra won the match 6-2, 6-2, and went on to eventually win the state title.

“Luke becomes the first North Muskegon No. 1 singles player to reach the state quarterfinals since Alex Haines in 2008,” said NM coach Cody Liverance. His efforts gave NM a tie for 18th place, the school’s best since 2011.

Hall finished the season with a 25-4 record.
