FREMONT – The Fruitport boys basketball team topped Fremont 49-38 on Thursday evening.

The Trojans went up 26-18 at half-time and maintained the pace.

“We got off to a solid start tonight, but the difference today was we were able to sustain it and stay pretty solid throughout the game,” said coach Steve Erny. “This group has taken some of the early losses and learned from it, and I like the direction we are heading.”

Fruitport’s Hudson Hazekamp led with 15 points including four three-pointers. Ryan Bosch had 14 points and DayDay Williams scored nine points. Kyle Burke threw in eight points.

Chaz Miller scored 14 points for the Fremont and Ben Mellema added 10 points.

Fruitport (2-2) travels to Comstock Park on Tuesday.

Fremont (1-4, 0-2) will host a WMC-Lakes game against Oakridge on Tuesday.
