ALMA – Joe Perez led the way for the Muskegon Community College wrestling team with a fourth-place finish in the 133-pound class at the Alma College Open on Saturday.
“This is always a tough tournament and a chance for us to showcase our talent to 4-year colleges looking to recruit from us,” said Jayhawks coach Cody Carpenter. “There were college wrestlers from every level here, including several from Division 1.”
Rice Robins came in sixth place at 174 pounds. Hunter Leonard had wins at 157 pounds and Caleb O’Neal posted victories in the heavyweight division.
“We hung in there and competed and never backed down,” Carpenter said. “I’m very proud of the effort.”
The Jayhawks will compete in the MCCAA Conference Championships at St. Clair County Community College on Saturday.
