PORT HURON – The Muskegon Community College Lady Jayhawks ended their trip to the Skippers New Years Classic with their second loss in as many days.

The Lady Jayhawks dropped a 61-43 decision to host St. Clair Community College on Saturday.

A sluggish start to the game and some foul trouble to key players put the Jayhawks in trouble early on. MCC trailed 33-17 at the half against St. Clair (13-1).

The second half wasn’t any better as St. Clair had a 28-26 scoring advantage and a 17-point victory.

“We didn’t play our best game today,” MCC coach Jason Cooper said. “This was a good experience for us. We have to be more focused from the start.”

McKena Wilson led the Lady Jayhawks with 11 points and eight rebounds. Ty’veonna Davis added 10 points and four steals. Arrionna Williams added six points while Maiya Hill and Remi Sponseller had five points and five rebounds each.

The Jayhawks (6-6) will host Spring Arbor’s JV team at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
