Mona Shores uses second-half scoring surge to topple Zeeland East in girls’ basketball

NORTON SHORES – The Mona Shores girls basketball team topped Zeeland East, 55-36, in an OK-Green matchup on Friday.

The Sailors held a slight lead of 23-22 going into halftime, but put it into gear in the second half to put away the game.

Khaleeya Cook led the scoring with 18 points, followed by Logan Clausen with nine points. Laynie Russell and Braylon Meyers each chipped in eight points.

Mona Shores (7-7, 3-4) will travel to Reeths-Puffer on Friday, Feb. 2 for another league matchup.
