The Reeths-Puffer boys’ basketball team, led by Jaxson Whitaker, finished strong in a close contest with Zeeland East. The Rocket won the OK-Green contest, 71-66.

The Rockets trailed 17-9 at the end of the first quarter but went on a 15-7 tear in the second quarter to tie the contest at 24-24 at halftime.

The game remained deadlocked heading into the final quarter at 46-all before Reeths-Puffer closed out the contest on a 25-20 run.

Besides Whitaker, Reeths-Puffer had Travis Ambrose with 19 points, eight rebounds, four steals and two blocks. Whitaker had 29 second-half points including 22 in the fourth quarter.

Brayden Mitchelson chipped in nine points and three assists and Antrel Jones had four assists and five steals. Drew Brooks also scored an important five points off the bench.

Reeths-Puffer is now 18-3 on the season, 12-1 in league play.
