SHELBY – The Shelby girls basketball team upset North Muskegon, 33-28, in the Division 3 district semifinal on Wednesday night.

The Norse opened hot with a quick 14-6 first-quarter advantage. The Norse led 21-14 at halftime.

However, the second half was all Tigers as outscored the Norse 19-7 over the second half, including no points in the fourth quarter.

Molli Schultz led the Tiger attack with 20 points, while Kendall Zaverl added 12 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three steals. Kylie Brown pulled down seven rebounds.

Shelby (8-16) will host Holton at 7 p.m. Friday in the district championship.

North Muskegon ends the season at 12-11.
